Tennis at Jonathan's Landing

Landing in the Court
With Matt Boggs, Director of Tennis
We are excited to announce the Tennis Facility Project is in full swing! This project, to bring a state of the art tennis facility to the best tennis program in Jupiter, has been three years in the making! The Tennis Community will truly have a facility that we are proud to call home, and the Pickleball program will be a welcomed addition to the Racquet Sports available at Jonathan’s Landing. We look forward to launching a full scale Pickleball Program as early as this fall, 2021. Papico Construction estimates the project will take 90-100 days, with construction work taking place in three stages: Stage 1 - Courts 5 through 10; Stage 2 - Courts 1 through 4; and Stage 3 – The Pickleball Courts.

The Tennis Staff cannot wait for you to return to Jonathan’s Landing and see the incredible renovations, however, the part of this project that we are most excited about, will not be visible, the HydroCourts. What is a Hydrocourt you ask? A Har-Tru HydroCourt is a self-regulating, subsurface irrigation system that waters the courts from below. Each tennis court is constructed with six, fully lined, individually controlled cells. Each cell is monitored by a water control box allowing adjustments to be fine-tuned to player preferences. Increasing the water in the control boxes increases the water level in the court. Once the appropriate water level is achieved a float valve and an overflow pipe inside the control box keep the water level constant. It's that simple and it has lots of benefits!
  • Consistent Conditions 24/7: HydroCourts stay uniformly wet, smooth and firm for a consistent bounce and exceptional footing.
  • More Available Court Time: HydroCourt technology eliminates midday shut downs and improves drainage. HydroCourts are playable during light rain and dry rapidly after a heavy one.
  • Simple Maintenance: Maintenance time is cut in half! Rolling is needed infrequently, brushing is required once a day and watering is completed automatically, using 40% less water.
  • Player Comfort: With water rising from below, some people feel like HydroCourts are air conditioned; they can be as much as 20° cooler than a hard court.
It is important to note this is a major construction project. I understand the excitement to see all the changes, but please do not enter the construction zone. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this will cause. If you have any questions about the Tennis and Pickleball Project, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.
